Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Richmond is part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), a leading provider of ambulatory surgical care in the United States. USPI partners with physicians and health systems to offer high-quality, cost-effective surgical solutions while prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.

We are seeking a dedicated PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is responsible for providing post-anesthesia care, monitoring patient recovery, managing pain control, and ensuring a smooth transition from surgery to discharge or inpatient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent patient communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs, manage pain levels, and assess post-operative complications.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during recovery.
  • Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, including discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and fellow nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and progress.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, such as respiratory distress or cardiac events.

Required Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to quickly recognize and respond to post-operative complications.
  • Proficiency in pain management and administration of medications.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow surgical center protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety best practices.

Required Experience:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of PACU, ICU, or critical care nursing experience preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting is a plus.
